British Jobs for British People? Bollocks!

Gordon Brown a while ago said the words 'British Jobs for British People' (a line the BNP have since adopted).
Thick people with a variable sense of patriotism based on how many columns their newspaper focuses on 'Britishness' seem to think this is a good idea without really giving any thought to the implications that such a situation would bring up.

Ok, lets say that Britain does implement this rule, British jobs are given to British people first before anybody else. Lets imagine that every other country does the same, Italian jobs for Italian people, Spanish jobs for Spanish people. Eventually, any British citizens living and working abroad would have to move back to the UK to get a job. If you're British and you marry a French person, its not that likely you'll see them much! They'd have to move to France if they wanted to earn any money.

I'd rather that jobs are allocated to people based on their ability to do them, the skills they've picked up in life and their merits in general - not the fucking landmass they were born on. Are we really going to take a step backwards and assign people value based on pointless prejudices?
The whole idea smacks of textbook, surface-level racism.
I've lived in areas where there are lots of white, British people who couldn't give a fuck about working or indeed living in any kind of civilised society. I'm not saying non-whites are any better but the point I'm making is that employment is not a race issue.

Finally, we're lucky that companies themselves don't adopt such silly, superficial ideas. It seems to me that all major companies that operate in the UK are foreign anyway thanks to privitisation by multiple governments. If they all suddenly said 'We'll only employ people from our origin countries', there'd be no jobs for British people.


The last point I made is a bit weak, I know, but what I'm saying is that segregation and isolation can't work. The 'British jobs' mantra serves to make thicko's feel we're some kind of priveliged master race when in fact - with the failing education system, the colossal fuck up of the British financial sector this year we're becoming more and more useless to any organisations. Hire people based on their merits, not their origins - its obvious.
